you know those things you keep putting off until it’s been such a ridiculously long time it’s kind of hard to remember how long it’s been on the list indeed -
meet my new business cards.
It’s the season for fixing connections.
Aside from my undying love for the interwebs, it does take time to keep paid for and coordinated and remotely current.
I’m working on an actual domain name for my radioshow, fixing my sorry state of blog that i started way back when in 2006, and updating this site.
As John Cage once said “the most, the best, we can do, we believe, wanting to give evidence of love, is to get out of the way, leave space around whomever or whatever it is … but there is no space” … i’ve been loving the heck out of all this, giving lots of space, but now it’s time for some upclose TLC to start the new year.
“The greatest strength of live theater is its ability to put the audience in the middle of the action, edging them closer to participant than spectator. The Acheri, the debut production from The Empty Boat Theater Company, exploits that principle to its fullest.
From the moment you enter the “theater”—an empty retail space near Fifth and Main streets—it’s clear you are in for a very different kind of play. The set, a post-apocalyptic day care center, is strewn with toys and garbage and the windows are covered in duct tape. Lumber is stacked in the corner and machine noises rumble softly, creating an atmosphere of unease. Once you enter this nightmare world, the doorman locks you in. It’s an effective gag, because it makes you a piece of the play’s world.”
“The Acheri” is one of those hard to describe plays: developed with actors and director during a long workshop period, filled with elements that intentionality and imaginary space make real, inside of a non-traditional theater - the old Ceramica building in Downtown Boise.
I have been working on transforming the space into Sunny Sky Daycare.
These kinds of events don’t often happen, it’s one of those things not to miss.
I made this video for Halloween - how will you survive the zombie apocalypse?
